2 green onions, chopped |
2 heaping tbsp flour |

1 tsp garlic powder |
1 tsp parsley flakes |
salt and black pepper, to taste |

Directions:
1. ~*Grits*~ 2. Combine broth and butter in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Add grits and salt, stir well. 3. Reduce to low simmer. Stir often to be sure grits are not sticking. Slowly add milk, a little at a time - as needed, as grits begin to thicken. Cook for approx. 40 minuts, stirring often. When done cut in cream cheese and stir until well incorporated. 4. ~*Shrimp Sauce*~ 5. Clean shrimp (defrost and rinse). Pour lemon juice over shrimp, toss and set aside. 6. Place bacon pieces in a large skillet, fry until crispy. Remove bacon and drain. Leave bacon grease in skillet. 7. Toss chopped onion and green peppers into bacon grease, cook until slightly softened. 8. Sprinkle flour over onion and green pepper, stir until vegetables are coated and flour is moistened. 9. Continue to cook for 1 - 2 minutes. 10. Add chicken broth, stirring well scraping bottom of pan until well incorporated. 11. Add seasoning, stir well. 12. Bring to boil then turn down heat to a low simmer. 13. Drain shrimp, stir into gravy, cook for 5 minutes if shrimp is raw - if using pre-cooked shrimp cook long enough to heat shrimp through, approx 2 - 3 minutes. 14. Serve over grits, garnish with green onions and bacon. |
