This is a dinner that most kids would probably enjoy, not only because of the name, but because of the mac and cheese, jazzed up a little to make it a little healthier!! A fun idea would be to pretend that you are stranded on a beach with only a wooden spoon, and have to find an eating utensil, perhaps a sea shell, for your bowl. Have children come up with new and exciting ways to serve Shipwreck dinner with a minimum of utensils and fuss. Ingredients:
3/4 lb extra lean ground beef |
1 (225 g) package kraft dinner macaroni and cheese |
1 (540 ml) can stewed tomatoes, undrained |
1 cup frozen green pea |
1 cup skim milk |
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, part-skim, shredded |
Directions:
1. Brown meat in large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat; drain. 2. Stir in macaroni, cheese sauce, tomatoes, peas and milk. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low; cover. simmer 12 minutes or until macaroni is tender. 3. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Let stand 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. |
