3/4 cup butter |
3 cups sugar |
8 eggs, beaten |
2 lemons,***** rind only |
1 teaspoon lemon flavoring |
9 - 9 1/2 cups of flour |
1/2 teaspoom salt |
1 teaspoon soda |
2 teaspoons cream of tartar |
Directions:
1. CREAM BUTTER AND SUGAR, ADD EGGS, LEMON RIND, AND LEMON FLAVORING. 2. MIX 4 CUPS OF FLOUR , SALT, SODA, CREAM OF TARTAR. SIFT 3. ADD OTHER FLOUR- 1 CUP AT A TIME AND MIX WELL. 4. DOUGH WILL BE VERY STIFF. 5. ROLL OUT BY HAND IN 1 INCH THICK ROLLS. 6. CUT BY INCH AND SHAPE THE SIZE OF A FAT FINGER. 7. COOL 3-4 HOURS OR OVERNIGHT IN REFRIGERATOR. 8. HEAT FRYER TO 350 DEGREES 9. FRY IN SMALL BATCHES TILL GOLDEN BROWN, TURNING THEM ONCE. 10. DRAIN ON PAPER TOWELS, MAY SPRINKLE POWDERED SUGAR OVER THEM , OR LEAVE THEM PLAIN. |
