SHAMI KABAB...is a popular Pakistani and Indian kabab.These are patties made of minced meat of Mutton,Beef or Chicken with various spices and herbs and split Bengal Gram.It literally means 'Syrian Kabab' in Arabic. Read more .Its texture is soft.It is served as a snack,in sandwiches or as a side dish to your meal.You can also freeze them after shaping into kababs. Ingredients:
1 kg. minced meat (mutton or beef) |
250 gm. split bengal gram |
1 medium onion ,roughly sliced |
1 tbsp cumin seeds |
10-15 black peppercorns |
8-10 cloves |
2 piece cinnamon |
2-3 black cardamoms |
1 tbs salt |
10-15 button red chillies(red chilli pods) |
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste |
1 cup water |
1 large onion,finely chopped |
1 piece ginger,finely chopped |
2-3 green chilies,finely chopped |
4 tbsp fresh coriander leaves,chopped |
1 egg |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients from meat to water in a pan.Cook,covered on medium heat,stirring occasionally until lentil is tender and the liquid evaporates (for about 25 to 30 minutes). 2. Remove from heat and let it cool.Then grind in a food processor. 3. In a large bowl,combine meat mixture and all the remaining ingredients.Mix well. 4. Take a handful of the mixture and shape into round,half flat rounds. 5. Heat oil in a pan for shallow frying. 6. Fry on medium heat till they turn golden-brown on both sides. 7. Serve hot with onion rings and raita. |
