This is from All Saints Episcopal Church, West Plains, MO, 100th Anniversary version of Burnt Offerings. It was submitted by Mildred Tuthill. Ingredients:
1 cup butter, soft |
1 cup sugar |
2 eggs |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
3 1/2 cups flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1 egg |
1 tablespoon milk |
sesame seeds |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F. 2. Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. 3. Beat in eggs and vanilla, mix well. 4. Add flour and baking powder and mix until well combined. 5. Pinch off 1 inch balls and roll lightly by hand into 6 inch lengths. 6. Fold ropes in half, then twist (optional, I like sticks instead). 7. Place on silpat lined pan. 8. Topping:. 9. Beat egg and milk. 10. Brush cookies with mixture. 11. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. 12. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. |
