My girlfriend Connie shared this recipe with me when she served it at one of her Asian-inspired dinners. It's from the Hawaii Cookbook. In reading the ingredients, it looks rather blah, but trust me, these are delicious! Read more ! Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter |
1 1/2 cups brown sugar |
1/4 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 large eggs |
3/4 cup toasted sesame seeds |
2 cups sifted flour |
Directions:
1. Toast sesame seeds by spreading them on a cookie sheet and roasting them in a 350 degree oven for about 4 minutes. 2. They should be watched because they burn easily and quickly. 3. Cream butter, add sugar and beat till light and frothy. 4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating constantly. 5. Sift together flour and baking powder and combine with butter-sugar 6. mixture. 7. Mix until thoroughly blended. 8. Stir in vanilla and sesame seeds. 9. rop dough by the teaspoon about 2 inches apart on greased cookie 10. sheets. 11. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or till edges are brown. 12. To prepare ahead: Bake a few days ahead and store in airtight tin. (Connie used a plastic container and they became soft. She refreshed them in the oven and stored them in the refrigerator. Not as good as same day but acceptable.) |
