An elegant and enlightened appetizer for BBQ day. Ingredients:
4 filets sashimi grade ahi |
6 t. tempura sauce (or somewhat less lite soy to taste) |
2 t. sake |
1 t. sesame oil |
1 t. chili sesame oil |
1 t. crushed ginger |
2 t. sesame seeds |
romaine leaves |
chopped scallion |
Directions:
1. This can be made on the grill or on a grill pan. It should be very rare in the middle. If preparing on the grill, use a small filet grill (well oiled) to turn the filets individually. And watch it carefully. 2. Combine tempura sauce, sake, oil, ginger and sesame seeds in a bowl. Prepare grill for indirect heat, or heat grill pan. When hot, dip ahi filets in sauce and grill. Pour the remaining sauce on the upside of the filets. Sear for 3-4 minutes, turn and sear on the other side. Make sure the filets stay rare. 3. Cut filets in thirds. Serve with romaine leaves and chopped scallion. Serve 6 as an appetizer. |
