This is a non sweet version of the monkey bread. I had to take something to a dinner, and I created this. Ingredients:
2 pkgs yeast |
2 cups warm water |
3/4 cup melted shortening |
3/4 cup sugar |
1 1/2 tsp salt |
7 cups flour |
2 eggs |
2 sticks margarine (to dip dough in) |
2 tbsp dried parsley |
sesame seeds |
parmesan cheese |
Directions:
1. dissolve yeast in warm water 2. add sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and 3 1/2 cups flour 3. beat real well 4. gradually add the remaining flour, knead 10 minutes 5. divide dough and roll out on lightly floured surface 6. cut into little squares 7. dip each square into melted butter 8. mix the sesame seeds, parmesan cheese and parsley flakes in shallow pan 9. roll in sesame seeds/parmesan cheese 10. drop into greased bundt pan-helter skelter 11. let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour) 12. bake 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes 13. turn upside down on a plate to remove from pans 14. this makes 2 pans of monkey bread |
