A new take on an old recipe. The sesame seeds provide a crunchy but not overpowering flavor. You can serve these with an interesting Asian-inspired dipping sauce and it changes the aspect of the whole dish. I found this on Ingredients:
1 3/4 lbs potatoes |
3 tablespoons flour |
salt, to taste |
fresh ground black pepper, to taste |
1 egg |
1 tablespoon milk |
1/4 cup sesame seeds |
2 tablespoons sesame seeds |
3 tablespoons oil, for shallow frying |
chopped fresh chives or chopped fresh parsley leaves, garnish |
Directions:
1. Cook potatoes in boiling water 10 minutes or until they begin to soften. 2. Drain and cut into 1/2 slices. 3. In a bowl, mix flour, salt and pepper. 4. Toss potatoes to coat. 5. In another bowl, mix egg and milk. 6. In a third bowl, place the sesame seeds. 7. Heat oil in frying pan; fry potato slices in a single layer for 2-3 minutes on each side. 8. Serve hot, garnished with chives(I like the oniony flavor) or parsley. |
