Old-fashioned recipe passed down from generation to generation Ingredients:
2 tablespoons quick-rising yeast |
4 cups milk, scalded |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1 cup margarine, melted |
5 eggs |
1 cup sugar |
2 cups mashed potatoes |
2 -3 teaspoons nutmeg |
2 1/2 cups flour |
1 lb icing sugar |
2 tablespoons margarine |
1/8 cup hot water |
Directions:
1. mix together first 8 ingredients stir well, add enough flour to form a soft dough. 2. let rise until double the size then knead and roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut like doughnuts and let rise again. Deep fry until golden brown. 3. Glaze:. 4. Mix together icing sugar margarine and add enough water to make a runny glaze, dip spudnuts in and set to cool. 5. •Or shake spudnuts in a bag of 1 cup of white sugar and 1/2 cup of brown sugar. |
