This dish ishas so many names in the middle east in some countries it is called Harrissa in others Khounafa or Halawa.you might find a very small difference in taste as some countries do not add coconut milk. Ingredients:
1 can sweetened condensed milk (39g) |
2 1/2 cups hot water |
4 tbsp. butter |
3/4 cup semolina |
1 cup coconut milk (prepared) |
1 tsp. cinnamon |
icing sugar |
Directions:
1. Dissolve Sweetened Condensed Milk thoroughly in hot water 2. Heat butter in a medium pan and add semolina and Coconut Milk 3. Cook, stirring constantly for about 5 minutes or until semolina is lightly browned. Remove from heat 4. Gradually stir in the hot Sweetened Condensed Milk mixture into the semolina mixture and add cinnamon 5. Then stir over heat until it boils, reduce heat, then cook again, stirring for 1 minute 6. Remove from heat , Cover pan for 15 minutes 7. Grease a high-sided oven tray. Spread mixture evenly into it and stand for 10 minutes 8. Turn onto a board and cut into squares to serve 9. Dust with icing sugar or cinnamon or place some nuts on top. |
