Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
1 teaspoon ground ginger |
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon allspice |
1/2 teaspoon cloves |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup dark brown sugar |
2 large eggs |
1 10.75-oz. can condensed tomato soup |
1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar |
2 tablespoons milk |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Make cake: Preheat oven to 375°F. Butter and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Stir together dry ingredients. With an electric mixer on high speed, beat butter and both sugars until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. 2. Reduce mixer speed and add dry ingredients to butter mixture in 3 batches, alternating with soup. 3. Scrape batter into pan. Bake until a tester inserted in center of cake comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes. Let cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then invert onto rack and cool completely, about 2 hours. 4. Make glaze: Stir together confectioners' sugar, milk and cinnamon until smooth. Spoon glaze over cake. |
