Seasoned Chicken Fried Steaks |

Crispy, well seasoned steaks done with in 30 minutes.. Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
3/4 teaspoon onion powder |
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder |
3/4 teaspoon pepper |
3/4 teaspoon chili powder |
2 eggs, lightly beaten |
1 2/3 cups buttermilk, divided |
4 (4 ounce) beef cube steaks |
1 1/2 cups low-fat milk |
vegetable oil (for frying) |
Directions:
1. In a shallow bowl, combine 2 cups flour, baking powder, and seasonings. 2. In another shallow bowl, combine eggs, and 1 cup buttermilk. 3. Dip each cubed steak in buttermilk mixture, then roll in flour mixture, and let stand for 5 minutes. 4. In a large skillet, heat 1/2 inch of oil on medium-high. 5. Fry steaks for 5-7 minutes, and turn carefully. 6. Cook 5 minutes longer or until coating is crisp and meat is no longer pink. 7. Remove steaks and keep warm. 8. Drain reserving 1/3 cup drippings, and stir remaining flour into drippings until smooth. 9. Cook and stir over medium heat for 2 minutes. 10. Gradually whisk in milk, and remaining buttermilk. 11. Bring to a boil, and cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. 12. Serve with steaks. |
