This old-fashioned Scripture cake recipe is from the 1900's. Ingredients:
1 cup butter (judges v, 25) |
4 cups flour (i kings iv, 22) |
3 cups sugar (jeremiah vi, 20) |
2 cups raisins (i samuel xxx, 12) |
2 cups figs (i samuel xxx, 12) |
1 cup water (genesis xxiv, 17) |
1 cup almonds (jeremiah i, 11) |
6 eggs (isaiah x, 14) |
1 tablespoon honey (exodus xvi, 21) |
1 teaspoon cream (exodus xii, 19) |
3 teaspoons baking powder (i corinthians v,6) |
1 pinch salt (job vi, 6) |
spices, to taste (i kings x, 10) |
Directions:
1. Follow Solomon's advice for making good boys and you will have a good cake; Proverbs XXIII, 13.

3. MIX ALL INGREDIENTS FOR CAKE AND BAKE AT 325 Degrees FOR 50 Minutes.
