This was my late husband's grandmother's recipe. I love this frosting and am putting it here for safe keeping. Ingredients:
1 cup whole milk |
3 tablespoons flour |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup shortening |
1/2 cup margarine |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 pinch salt |
Directions:
1. Heat milk and flour until thick. Let mixture cool. 2. In separate bowl, cream together sugar, shortening and margarine. Slowly add cooled milk mixture. Add vanilla and salt. This will ice one layer cake. |
