A traditional Scottish cottage dish. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs ground beef |
1 tablespoon canola oil |
3 teaspoons minced garlic |
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms |
2 cups beef stock |
2 cups guinness stout |
3/4 lb frozen spinach |
1 tablespoon ketchup |
1 1/2 teaspoons sage |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
salt and pepper |
1/4 cup flour |
1/4 cup butter, softened |
Directions:
1. In a large saucepan, heat the oil and garlic. 2. Add the ground beef and brown. 3. Add mushrooms, beef stock, and Guinness, and bring to a boil. 4. Add remaining ingredients and return to a boil. 5. Reduce heat and simmer for 1/2 hour, or until liquid has reduced by 1/4. 6. Serve with potato dumplings or mashed potatoes. |
