Remember the great rolls served at school? These are great dinner rolls straight from the cafeteria manager at my school! You will love these! Ingredients:
2 1/2 pounds flour(all purpose) |
1/4 cup instant yeast(rapid rise) |
3 cups warm water |
1/4 lb shortening |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup dry milk(powdered-remember that stuff ) |
1/2 oz salt |
Directions:
1. Place all dry ingredients in mixer bowl and mix using dough hook for approximately 1 minute(3 to 4 if doing by hand). 2. Add shortening and water and mix on first speed for 2 minutes. 3. Turn on second speed and mix until dough leaves the side of bowl. 4. Let dough rest for 30 minutes in a warm area(I guess it got tired from the beating!) 5. Dough should have doubled in side when doubled, punch(there goes that beating that poor dough again!)down to remove air bubbles. 6. Pinch out 2 oz. pieces of dough and place on greased baking sheets. 7. Place in warm place and allow to double in size(about 35-40 minutes). 8. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until light brown. 9. Brush tops of rolls with melted butter and enjoy! |
