This recipe is from House & Garden mag 1964.The simplicity belies the subtle flavors in this tasty soup.It is a great winter soup as most ingredients will already be in your house. Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter |
2 tbls.sugar |
1 large white cabbage,shredded |
1 1/2 quarts hot beef bouillion,(i use vegetable broth) |
1 tsp. salt |
1/2 tsp.black pepper |
1/8 tsp.allspice |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in a heavy kettle.Stir in sugar and cook until browned.Do not scorch.Add cabbage and cook 3 minutes,stirring constantly.Add remaining ingredients.Simmer covered about one hour. |
