This is my favorite scalloped potato recipe. Serves 4 to 6. See recipe for cook time. Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
3 cups milk |
6 medium potatoes, pared and thinly sliced (6 cups) |
2 tablespoons chopped onion |
Directions:
1. Make white sauce of first 5 ingredients.* 2. Place half the potatoes in greased 2-quart casserole; cover with half the onion and half the sauce. 3. Repeat layers. 4. Cover and bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour. 5. Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer. 6. Serves 4 to 6. 7. *Shredded cheese may be added to sauce. |
