There are many versions of this recipe out there, but this is our favorite. It is hard to come up with a better scalloped potato recipe. Ingredients:
8 medium potatoes, unpeeled |
1 small onion, thinly sliced |
3 tablespoons butter |
12 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated |
3/4 cup milk |
1/2 cup chicken broth |
2 tablespoons soy sauce |
2 tablespoons chopped parsley |
1 teaspoon garlic powder |
1 teaspoon oregano |
1/2 teaspoon thyme |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1/2 cup fine breadcrumbs |
1 -2 tablespoon butter |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350*F. 2. Butter a 2 1/2 to 3 quart , deep baking dish. Scrub, then thinly slice potatoes into baking dish. Layer with onion, then dot with 3 TBS butter, and cover with cheese. 3. Combine remaining ingredients, except bread crumbs and butter, and pour over all. Top with bread crumbs, dot with butter and bake, uncovered for 1 1/2 hours. |
