This meat pie is easy to make and great to serve when you have unexpected company over. Ingredients:
2 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered |
1 lb ground beef |
3/4 cup green onion, sliced |
1 large carrot, finely chopped |
1 garlic clove, minced |
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme |
1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1/4 teaspoon celery salt |
1 pinch ground cinnamon |
1/4 cup minced fresh parsley |
1/4 cup chili sauce |
1 (9 inch) pastry for double-crust pie |
1 tablespoon dijon mustard |
1 tablespoon milk |
Directions:
1. In a saucepan, cook potatoes in boiling water until tender. 2. Mash and set aside. 3. Meanwhile, in a skillet, brown the beef and drain. 4. Stir in next nine ingredients. 5. Let simmer 4-5 minutes. 6. Stir in potatoes, parsley and chili sauce. 7. Remove from heat. 8. Place bottom pastry in a 9 pie plate. 9. Brush with mustard. 10. Add meat mixture. 11. Top with remaining pastry. 12. Seal and flute edges. 13. Cut slits in the top crust. 14. Brush with milk. 15. Bake 450 - 10 minutes. 16. Reduce heat to 350 for 25 minutes. |
