Ingredients:
12-14 pound(s) turkey |
1 tablespoon(s) vegetable oil |
2 tablespoon(s) rubbed sage |
1 tablespoon(s) paprika |
1 tablespoon(s) seasoned salt |
2 teaspoon(s) garlic powder |
1 teaspoon(s) black pepper |
3/4 teaspoon(s) nutmeg |
1 large onion cut in wedges |
6 bay leaves |
Directions:
1. Place turkey on rack in roasting pan. Brush with oil. Mix seasonings. Sprinkle 1 Tbsp of the seasonings inside turkey. Spread remaining seasonings over entire surface and under skin of turkey. Place onion and bay leaves inside turkey. Add 1 cup water to the pan. Cover loosely with heavy duty foil. 2. Roast in preheated 325 F oven 1 hour. Remove foil. Roast 2-2/12 hours longer or until internal temp reaches 165F, basting occasionally with pan juices. Remove turkey from oven. Let stand 20 minutes. Reserve pan juices to make gravy. 3. Gravy:Add few Tbsp flour and stir with a whisk to make a thick, smooth paste. Add 1 cup chicken broth and stir until smooth. |
