SAVORY CAKE This recipe comes from a church friend who brings this occasionally to bible study. It is a delight and one that never hangs around long. Yummy. Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour |
3/4 cup granulated sugar |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano or thyme |
1 beaten egg |
1-2/3 cup milk |
1/4 cup cooking oil |
3/4 cup chopped nuts |
1 cup shredded swiss cheese |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. In mixing bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda and herbs. 3. In another mixing bowl combine egg, milk and cooking oil. 4. Add egg mixture to flour mixture stirring until just combined then stir in nuts and cheese. 5. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan then bake 1 hour then cool in paynfor 10 minutes. 6. Remove and cool thoroughly then wrap and store overnight before slicing. |
