Sauteed Brown Sugar Pears |

Southern Living Ingredients:
1 tablespoon lemon juice |
2 anjou pears, peeled and cut into eighths |
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar |
2 tablespoons butter |
1 teaspoon cornstarch |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract |
vanilla ice cream |
gingersnaps |
Directions:
1. Sprinkle lemon juice over pears. 2. Melt sugar and butter in a big nonstick skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 2 minutes or until melted and smooth. 3. Decrease heat to low; add in pears; cook/stir, 6-8 minutes or until pears are tender. 4. Whisk together the cornstarch and 1 teaspoon water; stir into pear mixture, and cook 1 minute or until thickened. 5. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. 6. Serve over vanilla ice cream and gingersnaps. |
