This is a wonderful dish! Ingredients:
1 lb of italian sausage |
1 chopped medium onion |
1 clove of minced garlic |
2 peeled/ diced carrots |
2 diced small zucchini |
1 diced green pepper |
1/2 c. of uncooked orzo pasta (rice-shaped pasta) |
2/3 c. of freshly grated parmesan cheese |
1/2 c. of dry white wine |
5 c. of chicken broth |
1 (28 oz) can of crushed tomatoes, in tomato puree |
1 tsp. of dried basil |
1/2 tsp. of dried oregano |
salt |
freshly ground pepper |
Directions:
1. First you want use the bulk sausage. 2. Now cook the sausage in a pan, keep mashing with a spoon until the meat is cooked. 3. Take off grease. 4. Then add the onions and garlic and cook, stirring,until tender. 5. Next add the carrots, zucchini, pepper, wine, chicken broth, tomatoes, basil, and oregano and bring to a boil. 6. Now you can add the orzo and cook for approx. 20 minutes. 7. This needs to be seasoned to taste with salt and pepper. 8. Serve.. |
