Sausage Casserole (Overnight) |

My DH's grandmother used to use this for Christmas morning. Ingredients:
6 slices bread, cut off crust if desired |
2 lbs sausage (1 hot and 1 regular) |
1 1/2 cups sharp longhorn cheese, shredded |
8 eggs, beaten |
2 cups half-and-half |
1 teaspoon salt |
butter |
Directions:
1. Butter bread lightly. 2. Place bread into 13x9x2 baking dish, butter side up, set aside. Cook and drain sausage, crumble. Spoon over bread. 3. Sprinkle cheese over sausage. Combine eggs, half and half, and salt. Mix well and pour over cheese. Chill overnight. 4. Remove from refrigerator for 15 minutes before baking. 5. Bake uncovered at 350 F for 35 minute. |
