This is something I came up with today since I had some Italian sausage and didn't want to go shopping for anything I would have had on hand for another recipe. This is creamy and very cheesy! And you can always add some red pepper if you want some heat to it. Ingredients:
1 lb mild italian sausage, ground |
1 medium onion, diced |
1 green bell pepper, diced |
4 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced |
2 teaspoons garlic, minced |
1 tomato, diced |
12 ounces tri-color spiral pasta, cooked and drained |
1 3/4 cups cream (or milk, i use 1c cream and 3/4 milk) |
2 teaspoons italian seasoning |
2 teaspoons paprika |
2 teaspoons basil |
2 teaspoons black pepper |
1 teaspoon salt |
8 ounces parmesan cheese, shredded |
1 lb mozzarella cheese, shredded |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 2.5 quart dish. 2. Brown sausage with onions, green pepper,mushroom, & garlic. Cook until sausage is no longer pink. Drain grease. 3. In large pot, add spices and milk or cream. Bring to a boil stirring occasionally. Reduce heat. Add Tomato, 8oz Parmesan cheese and 8oz mozzarella cheese. Stir until cheese is melted and smooth. 4. Combine sausage and veggies & noodles to the cheese mixture. Stir until completely combined. 5. Pour into the greased dish. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese. Bake until cheese is completely melted and bubbly. |
