Sausage Breakfast Casserole |

This was always a staple in my house growing up and brings back fond memories for me. Because it chills overnight, it's super easy to just pop it in the oven and go about your morning rutine. Ingredients:
7 slices white bread, crusts removed |
softened butter |
1 lb sausage, browned and crumbled |
6 eggs |
1 pint half-and-half cream |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. Spread butter on each sice of bred and place face up, in a greased 9x13 baking dish. 2. Spoon cooked, drained sausage over bread and sprinkle with cheese. 3. Combine eggs, half&half and spices. 4. Pour over cheese; cover and chill over night. 5. In the morning, remove fromrefrigerator 15 minutes prior to baking. 6. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes, or until set. |
