Calzones can be served as an appetizer, brunch item or main course when paired with soup or salad. This calzone gets a little zip from the hot sausage! Ingredients:
2 - 10 oz pkg frozen spinach, thawed |
4 hot italian sausage |
1 tbsp butter |
1 clove garlic, crushed |
salt and pepper, to taste |
8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded |
1 lb pizza dough |
Directions:
1. Remove sausage from casing and fry meat. 2. Defrost spinach and wring out all the liquid. 3. Saute spinach in butter and garlic. 4. Roll out pizza dough. 5. Place sausage, spinach and cheese on dough. 6. Close dough around filling. 7. Bake in 375 degree oven for 30 minutes and then brush top of calzone with egg white. Finish baking for another 15 minutes. |
