I figured I'd start out on a positive note. Please note this is from Mama's in the Kitchen Weird and Wonderful Home Cooking 1900 to 1950, pub NativeGround auth. Barbara Swell. Original source is not cited and size of Jello pkg is not either, I guessed at 6 oz. Ingredients:
2 cups sauerkraut, drained |
1 (6 ounce) package lemon jell-o gelatin |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1 cup boiling water |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1/2 lemon, juice of |
Directions:
1. Dissolve a packet of lemon jello in one cup of boiling water. When cool add sauerkraut, lemon juice, salt and paprika. Fill individual molds or cups. Chill. This recipe will make six individual molds. At serving time, remove from molds. Cut into any desired shapes and use as a garnish for salads or cold meats. |
