This delicious, and ever popular Polish side dish goes wonderfully with any meat or poultry, especially good with pork roast. Ingredients:
1 (16 oz) can sauerkraut, liquid removed and rinsed |
1/2 pound bacon |
1/2 cup white sugar |
salt and pepper, to taste |
Directions:
1. Cook the bacon in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, until browned evenly. Drain (saving the drippings for later), crumble and place aside. 2. In a medium saucepan with a little water, warm the sauerkraut over a medium heat. Add in the bacon, sugar and 3-4 tablespoons of saved bacon drippings. Cook for 20 minutes, until heated through. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. |
