I have served this many times to dinner guests, along with mashed potatoes, broccoli in cheese sauce, salad and homemade rolls. It can easily be doubled for a large group.Agatha Vander Kool, Portage, Michigan Ingredients:
2 eggs, beaten |
1/2 cup milk |
1/2 cup bread crumbs |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1/2 cup chopped celery |
1/2 cup chopped green pepper |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
2 pounds ground beef |
sauce: |
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce |
1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine eggs, milk, bread crumbs, onion, celery, green pepper, salt and pepper. Add ground beef; mix well. Shape into 10 individual loaves, using about 1/2 cup mixture for each. Place in a 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. In a small bowl, combine the sauce ingredients. Pour over the loaves. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for about 40 minutes or until no pink remains. Yield: 10 servings. |
