Ingredients:
3 cup(s) packed brown sugar |
1 cup(s) butter or margarine softened |
4 whole(s) eggs |
2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract |
2 2/3 cup(s) all-purpose flour |
3/4 cup(s) baking cocoa |
1 tablespoon(s) baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
1 1/3 cup(s) boiling water |
1/2 cup(s) butter or margarine |
3- 1 oz squares unsweetened chocolate |
3- 1 oz squares semisweet chocolate |
5 cup(s) confectioner's sugar |
1 cup(s) sour cream |
2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, cream brown sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at 2. a time, beating well after each addition. Beat on high speed until 3. light and fluffy. 4. Blend in vanilla. 5. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; add alternately with 6. sour cream to creamed mixture. Mix on low just until combined. Stir 7. in water until blended. Pour into three greased and floured 9-in. 8. round baking pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes. 9. Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. 10. For frosting, in a medium saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over 11. low heat. 12. Cool several minutes. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, sour cream 13. and vanilla. Add chocolate mixture and beat until smooth. Frost 14. cooled cake. |
