This is a Malay dish that is very common in Sinagapore and Malaysia. Ingredients:
dried shrimps (soaked in some warm water for 10 mins) - 1/2 handful |
dry/fresh red chilis - 4 pcs |
shallots - 2 small |
garlic - 4 pips |
sambal belacan - (1/2 your thumb size) - p.s. use an average sized thumb |
long beans - (1 bunch) |
salt to taste |
sugar to taste (optional – malay style) |
Directions:
1. Pound the above ingredients (except for the belacan) till coarse paste formed 2. Snap/cut the long beans into 1 inch length 3. Fry the pounded ingredients with the sambal belacan till dark mixture is formed 4. Add the long beans and saute till mixed with pound ingredients 5. Add salt to taste. 6. Add sugar to taste if needed 7. ***Serve with white steamed jasmine rice*** |
