Better than plain rice and easy to prepare. Ingredients:
2 cups uncooked (raw) rice |
4 cups chicken broth |
11/2 lb. ground pork sausage (hot seasoned sausage is best) |
11/2 lb. ground beef |
1 medium bell pepper, finely chopped |
1 medium onion, finely chopped |
5-6 cloves garlic, peeled and minced |
4-5 shots louisiana style hot sauce |
salt to taste |
red pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Cook rice in chicken stock: Place rice and stock in large, uncovered pot and bring to a rapid boil. Reduce heat cover pot and simmer until rice is fully cooked. Prepare remaining ingredients while rice cooks. 2. Mix ground beef and ground pork sausage, season with salt and red pepper and pan fry the mixture. Add chopped bell pepper, chopped onion and minced garlic to the meat. Continue cooking meat and vegetables until onions are translucent, peppers are tender and the meat is well done. 3. When rice is done, add to meat and vegetable mixture and blend well. Serve hot. |
