This salsa was taught to me by my Hispanic boyfriend, pretty basic, but modified to fit my extra spicy taste buds! Ingredients:
1/2 cup chopped white onion |
1/4 coarsely chopped cilantro |
1 clove chopped garlic |
1 large tomato (whatever kind you like) |
5-7 serrano peppers |
pinch of oregano |
Directions:
1. Boil tomato and serrano peppers until tomato skins start to break 2. Remove skins from tomatos (optional) 3. Place peppers into blender/food processor and blend until broken up 4. Place tomato, cilantro and garlic into blender and blend until tomato is broken up and mixed with peppers. The time you blend your salsa depends on how thick you want it. 5. After blended to desired consistency, place onions and oregano in blender and, using the pulse button, pulse until onions are well mixed with salsa. 6. Enjoy hot or cold! |
