I find these burgers need no additional condiments. Recipe can be doubled, and burgers can be frozen for a week or so. If you can, allow these burgers to sit in the fridge for up to 8 hours for the flavours to really come together. Ingredients:
1 egg |
1/4 cup italian style breadcrumbs |
1/4 cup salsa (choose a quality store bought salsa in mild, medium or hot) |
4 green onions, finely chopped |
1/2 red pepper, finely chopped |
2 garlic cloves, minced |
1 tablespoon dijon mustard |
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
1 dash hot pepper sauce (optional) |
1 lb lean ground beef |
6 slices cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. In a bowl beat eggs and mix in all ingredients except beef. 2. Mix in beef and shape into six 1/2-inch patties. 3. Cook over medium heat, about 5 minutes per side. 4. Add cheese during the last 3 minutes of cooking. |
