So simple, but everytime I make it people ask me for the recipe. Ingredients:
3-4 cups chopped tomatoes (fresh from the garden are best!) |
2-3 cloves of garlic |
1/2 sweet onion |
1/2 yellow or orange habanero pepper |
salt |
1 lemon or lime |
fresh cilantro |
Directions:
1. Chop the pepper as fine as you can. Wear gloves if you can. Be careful of the pithe, it is very hot. I take out all of the seeds & as much of the pithe as I can. 2. Chop/dice the tomatoes. The acid from the tomatoes will help get the hottness off of your fingers. 3. Mince the garlic & chop the onion. 4. Add the juice of the lemon or lime and then taste. Add salt to taste. I prefer kosher or sea salt. 5. Chop the cilantro & combine. Let sit for an hour or two before deciding to add any more pepper. The salsa will get hotter the longer it sits. 6. Serve with tortilla chips. |
