Long-awaited recipe for the best hamburger buns I have ever had . A passed-down recipe I now have learned to make. These even make great rolls. They are INCREDIBLE!! Ingredients:
1 cup milk |
1/2 cup butter |
4 2/3 cups sifted all-purpose flour |
1/3 cup sugar |
2 tsp salt |
2 packages active dry yeast |
3 eggs |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 F 10 minutes before the rolls are ready to be baked. 2. Heat the milk and butter until very warm, about 120F. Remove from heat. Stir until butter melts. 3. Combine 1 2/3 cups flour and the sugar, salt, and yeast in a large mixing bowl. 4. Add the warm liquids to the flour mixture. Beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes. 5. Gradually add 2/3 cup of flour and the eggs. Beat at high speed for 2 minutes. Add remaining flour. Mix well. The batter wil be thick. 6. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place until double in bulk, 1 to 1 1/4 hours. 7. Punch dough down. With floured hands, divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape into round domes, tucking edges under. 8. Place the rolls 4 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise in a warm, draft-free place for 45 minutes. 9. Bake at 400 F for 20 minutes |
