From my husbands recipe collection. Serve with pickled cucumbers, mixed pickles, beet salad and black bread with butter. Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups water |
1 1/2 lbs stew meat |
6 new potatoes |
2 onions |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 bay leaves |
6 peppercorns |
1 clove |
2 tablespoons parsley |
Directions:
1. Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Add stew 2. meat. Boil 4-5 minutes. Skim foam from surface until clear. Add potatoes, onion, and salt. Tie bay leaves, peppercorns and cloves in a small piece of cheesecloth add to pot. 3. Cover and cook 1 1/2- 2 hours. 4. Potatoes and onions will become very soft and beef tender. Remove spice bag. Spoon stew into serving bowl. Sprinkle with parsley. |
