Kulfi is South Asian ice cream. This dessert, which requires no special equipment, earned our highest rating. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons water |
1/8 teaspoon saffron threads, crushed |
3/4 cup whipping cream |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom |
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 (14-ounce) can fat-free sweetened condensed milk |
1 (12-ounce) can evaporated fat-free milk |
Directions:
1. Combine 2 tablespoons water and saffron in a small microwave-safe bowl; microwave at HIGH 20 seconds. 2. Combine saffron mixture and remaining ingredients in an 8-inch square baking dish, stirring with a whisk. Cover with plastic wrap; freeze 8 hours or overnight. Let soften slightly at room temperature before serving. |
