These are by far my favorite baked treat. The signature ingredients of these cookies are the cinnamon-sugar and cream of tartar, which create a perfectly balanced taste of sweet, spicy and tangy. Snickerdoodles may have a funny sounding name, but they make a wonderful anytime treat. Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1 tsp. baking soda |
2 tsp. cream of tartar |
2 eggs |
2 tsp. vanilla |
2 3/4 cups flour |
1/4 tsp. salt |
4 tablespoons sugar, more if needed |
2 tsp. cinnamon, more if needed |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 2. Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. 3. Using a wooden spoon, cream together 1 1/2 cups sugar and butter. 4. Stir in vanilla and eggs. 5. Add in dry ingredients, mix until just incorporated. 6. In a small bowl, combine remaining sugar and the cinnamon. 7. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in cinnamon sugar mixture. 8. Place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. 9. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. 10. Immediately remove from cookie sheet and let cool on a baking rack. |
