from Rumford Everyday Cookbook for the Housekeeper and Student no publish date but probably from 1930's i serve these with lots of butter and maple syrup, sometimes with macerated strawberries Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
3 teaspoons rumford baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon sugar |
3 tablespoons cornmeal |
2 eggs |
2/3 cup milk |
3 tablespoons melted shortening |
Directions:
1. sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt 2. add the sugar and cornmeal 3. mix to a light batter with the beaten eggs, milk and melted shortening. 4. bake in well greased waffle iron. |
