Roz bi sharaya is Arabic for rice with vermicelli. It tastes basolutely wonderful and is a great side dish. Ingredients:
1/2 cup vermicelli, broken into very small pieces |
2 tbsp butter |
1 cup white rice, rinsed very well in cold water before cooking |
cold water |
2 tsp salt |
Directions:
1. Heat butter in the pan you will cook the rice in 2. When butter is sizzling add the vermicelli and fry until dark golden brown (stir continuously so it won't stick) 3. Turn down the heat, pour in the rinsed rice (it's going to splatter a bit, so take care!) and add cold water to 1/2 inch above the top of the rice 4. Add salt and stir to mix rice and vermicelli 5. Turn up the heat, bring to a bowl, then turn down to a low simmer 6. Cover and cook for 14 minutes |
