This was a feel-good recipe that was handed down through the years at the local firehouse Ingredients:
2 lbs beef round steak, cut 3/4 thick |
1 medium onion, sliced |
1 (10 1/4 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup |
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed |
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
Directions:
1. Trim fat from meat. 2. Cut steak into serving size portions. 3. Place onion in a 3 1/2 or 4 quart slow cooker. 4. Place meat on top of onion. 5. In a small bowl combine soup, oregano, thyme, and pepper. 6. Pour over meat. 7. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 10 to 12 hours or on high heat setting for 5 to 6 hours. 8. If desired, serve with hot cooked pasta. |
