This recipe came from a newspaper featuring recipes that would feed a family for under a dollar during the Depression. It was published on Columbus Day, hence the name. Still economical and delicious. Ingredients:
1 lb spaghetti, cooked |
1 lb ground beef |
1 large onion, chopped |
2 (28 ounce) cans tomato puree |
1 lb american cheese or 1 lb cheddar cheese, cubed or shredded |
1/4 cup margarine |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Cook spaghetti until tender. 2. Brown ground beef with chopped onion. 3. Stir beef,cheese,tomato and salt and pepper to taste into spaghetti and mix well. 4. Dot with margarine. 5. Bake, covered, 350 for 45 minutes. |
