1/2 gallon milk |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/2 cup raisins |
5 eggs |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
2 tablespoons vanilla |
bread, sliced |
2 cups sugar |
1 cup butter |
1 cup milk, plus |
1 teaspoon vinegar |
2 tablespoons light corn syrup |
3/4 teaspoon baking soda |
4 -5 tablespoons vanilla |
Directions:
1. To make bread pudding: mix everything but raisins. Set aside. 2. In a 9x13 inch baking dish layer bread halfway up. Pour mixture over. Sprinkle raisins on top. Bake at 350 degrees for approx 45-60 minutes, checking often for a knife to come out clean. 3. To make sauce: Heat all ingredients except the vanilla over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla. 4. Spoon yourself out some bread pudding and top it off with the sauce and some cool whip. |
