Another Christmas staple in our house. This dough is very heavy, so make sure you use a stand mixer or electric mixer to make these cookies. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1 cup butter |
3 large eggs, well beaten |
3 cups flour, sifted |
1 lb dates, chopped |
1 lb walnuts, chopped |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon ground cloves |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 pinch salt |
1 tablespoon hot water |
Directions:
1. Cream together sugar, butter and eggs. 2. Add dry ingredients. 3. Add hot water. 4. Add dates and nuts. 5. Drop dough by teaspoonsful onto ungreased cookie sheets. 6. Bake in preheated 350°F oven until golden brown, 10-12 minutes. |
