This is agood all purpose bread dough that also makes a great pizza crust. The roasted garlic variation is so tasty you don't even need to butter it. Ingredients:
1 1/2 c. hot water |
2 t yeast |
2 c. white flour |
2 c. wheat flour |
1 tsp. salt |
4 t olive oil |
optional 3 cloves minced garlic |
optional 2t fresh minced rosemary |
optional additional 2t olive oil |
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in hot water 2. Mix the flour, salt and olive in large bowl 3. Add yeast/water mixture and stir together 4. Dump out on floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic 5. Let rise until doubled in size (approximately 1 hour) 6. Punch down dough, knead slightly and form into loaf (you can use a loaf pan or roll it into a long loaf as in french) 7. Bake at 375 for 35 minutes 8. For roasted garlic and rosemary variation, put minced garlic and rosemary in olive and bake at 200 for about 30 minutes while bread rises. Add this during the second kneading. |
