RIDICULOUSLY GREAT MINCEMEAT TARTS This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Victor Estate in Allen, Texas in 1981. Ingredients:
pastry for a double pie crust |
28 ounce jar mincemeat |
1 large apple peeled cored and thinly sliced |
4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese grated |
1 egg yolk |
1 tablespoon water |
Directions:
1. Roll out pieces of pie crust then cut into 4” squares. 2. Place equal amounts of mincemeat and sliced apples in center of each square. 3. Top with 1 tablespoon grated cheese. 4. Fold each square on diagonal to make triangle then press edges with floured fork. 5. Cut small slits in top of each crust. 6. Beat egg yolk and water and brush over tarts then place on cookie sheets. 7. Bake at 425 for 10 minutes then serve warm or at room temperature. |
